Elizabeth Warren-Boulton is a dual citizen of the United States and Australia who balances her creative life with a career in health education. Since her first exposure to painting during Saturday classes as a young teen in Australia, she has spent many years refining her technique and developing her artistic vision. She has studied at the Art Students League of New York, St. Louis University, the Art League School in Alexandria Virginia, and the Corcoran School of art in Washington DC. She has exhibited in juried exhibitions at the Art League Gallery in Alexandria, the Corcoran College of Art and Design, the Foundry and Touchstone Galleries in Washington, DC, and the League of Reston Artists. She has also been commissioned to paint numerous portraits.
Under the tutelage of Stephen Quiller in Creede, Colorado, Elizabeth expanded her mastery of color relationships and use of water media. She also gained a deep understanding of acrylic painting techniques and portraiture when working with Annette Polan at the Corcoran and developed a collage technique utilizing torn sheets of dried acrylic paint to create compelling portrait and landscape abstractions. Later, exploration of printmaking techniques using actual plant material led her to blend her expertise in collage with semi-abstraction of natural forms. This experience resulted in the evolution of her current linear, semi-abstract style using various art mediums.
Traveling to different parts of the world has allowed Elizabeth to draw inspiration from the enormous variation in plant life. When not gardening at her holiday Australian farm cottage, she is particularly moved to capture the uniqueness of native Australian plants.
